Re/insurance broker WTW has announced the appointment of Derric Howard to the role of EMEA Head of Commercial Lines Transformation, within its Insurance Consulting and Technology (ICT) business.
He will be based in London and work with European insurance firms, brokers and other market players to modernise and digitise the underwriting function.
Howard joins WTW from Zurich Insurance, where he spent nearly 20 years working in underwriting roles across the United States, Middle East, European and UK markets.
Most recently, he worked in Zurich’s Commercial Insurance business, executing its strategy to develop business globally with Managing General Agents.
“We are delighted that Derric has joined ICT as our new EMEA Head of Commercial Lines Transformation,” said Iain Whittingham, Senior Director and Head of Commercial Lines Markets, ICT UK and Ireland, at WTW.
“He brings proven business building experience and his deep knowledge of the global insurance industry will provide strong value to our clients, as we continue to support their transformation journeys towards nextgeneration trading and underwriting.”
Howard also commented: “I am excited to be joining WTW at such a dynamic time, with the market undergoing deep transformation. Economic uncertainty, higher inflation and geopolitical tensions continue to apply pressure on the industry to accelerate efforts in making their underwriting and pricing more efficient and effective.”
“WTW’s ICT business has market-leading talent, tools and capabilities, and I look forward to contributing to the growth of the business in Europe and beyond.”
